Studio12 is a creative digital media space for people aged 16–30. We provide free access to a production studio, training, and support from creative professionals working in design, music, video and media arts. Whatever your skill level, if you want to get creative, you can come and use our space and our kit to do it.

The space houses a fully equipped studio with a wide range of multimedia, video, photography, music equipment and software packages. Studio12 work has been showcased on a local and national scale, as well as online.  

The studio is based in Leeds Central Library, on the Arts Floor.

We are open Tuesday – Friday from 1pm – 5pm.

Who can join Studio12? 

If you are aged 16-30 and living in Leeds or the surrounding areas, you can join Studio12.

How much does it cost? 

Studio12 is FREE for 16-30 year olds.

What happens in Studio12?      

Studio12 members create a broad range of media-related projects, depending on what they want to produce. Studio12 is designed to help turn your ideas into something real. Bring your ideas and vision to the studio and make them happen!

What support will I get?

Studio12 staff will help you learn how to use the software and equipment that you need; whether that’s for music production, film and photo editing, animation, illustration or graphic design. We can help you get started, support you as you grow, and build your confidence so you can do things for yourself.

How do I join? 

If you are aged 16-30 and able to get to the Studio during our opening hours, please get in touch to arrange an appointment to become a member. Appointments usually take half an hour to an hour – we’ll tell you all about the Studio so you can get the most out of it, as well as finding out more about your interests and what you’d like to achieve in the Studio. We’ll set you up with a username which will allow you to save your work in your own area on our network.

How often can I come?

Once you are registered, you can come and use the studio as often as you like during our opening hours: Tuesday – Friday 1pm until 5pm.

Can I use the soundbooth?

Once you are a member of the studio, you are welcome to use the soundbooth. To make sure you get to use it when you want to, it’s best to book in advance. You can do this by talking to us in person, emailing us, or calling us. We offer 2 hour slots, from 1-3pm and from 3-5pm.

Does Studio12 work with groups and organisations? 

Taster sessions are available for community groups and youth organisations based in the Leeds area during mornings and by prior arrangement. This is a relaxed introduction to some of our opportunities in film, animation, photography and music production.

Do you offer qualifications?

We do not currently offer any qualifications. However, the software you will learn to use is industry standard.
